About HCS

Kristin Ball Motley, Pharm.D.
MTM Pharmacist

Health Care Solutions (HCS) was created by Kristin Ball Motley, a pharmacist, who sees, first-hand, problems associated with the under-management of chronic diseases, medication non-adherence, and use of multiple medications. She was especially motivated to start HCS after seeing the financial burdens of medication costs on her grandmother and her friend's mother. Her grandmother would often complain about the high cost of her medications. Her friend's mom suffered a heart attack and could not to afford to pay for her medications when she was discharged from the hospital.

These instances, and many others, fueled Kristin's desire to create her own company. She wanted to create a company where her knowledge and skills could be used to help people save money on their medications. It is her hope that if people can afford their medications and are well informed about how to manage their diseases, they will live healthier lives. She strongly believes in the words often said by her mentor, "When you know better, you do better."

Medication Management

A medication check-up is also known as medication therapy management (MTM). It is a face-to-face consultation with an MTM pharmacist who will review all of your medications and lab results. The MTM pharmacist will make sure your doses are correct, check for drug interactions, and help you manage and prevent side effects. The medication check-up will allow the MTM pharmacist to work with all of your other health care providers to make sure you are taking only the medicines you need. All of your questions and concerns about your medicines will be answered during your medication check-up.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How can HCS help me save money on my prescription medications?
HCS will review your prescription medications to make sure you are taking only the medications you need. If you are taking a medication that may not be necessary, HCS will contact your physician to determine if you can stop taking that medication. If so, this will save you the expense of paying for that medication.  For example, some people suffer from seasonal allergies and take medication to manage their symptoms (itchy/watery eyes, sneezing, post nasal drip, etc). This person may take this medication all year long, but his allergies are only a problem in the spring. In this case, the HCS could contact that patient's physician to determine if he can safely stop taking that medication. This could save him from paying monthly co-pays for a medication that he does not need at the time.

Additionally, there are many medications that work in a similar manner. Your insurance company may prefer one drug over another. Your physician may prescribe a non-preferred medication which costs you more money. This is not done on purpose. It occurs because your physician simply cannot memorize the preferred drug list for all insurance companies. HCS will compare the drugs that you are on with the drugs that your insurance company prefers. If there is an opportunity to save you money without compromising your health, HCS will ask your physician to change the medication. In certain cases, the more expensive medication is the best medication for you, and it cannot be changed. Your physician will determine this.

Lastly, if you cannot afford to pay for your medications, we will help you access the free and discounted medications available through the pharmaceutical industry.
